When can I retire?

The normal retirement age for members of the FPS 1992 scheme is 55 and if you chose to retire at 55 or above, the pension is put into immediate payment. You may retire at age 50 or over providing you have at least 25 years’ service (unless you are a Chief Fire Officer appointed before 1 July 2013 in which case permission will be required by your authority).

The FPS 1992 Retirement Decision Tree outlines the retirement options for members.
